Market Events
Local artist Paul Clay will be exhibiting his latest work on the walls of Essex Street Market. Entitled, "Representation, a Chronicle of the Essex Street Market," Clay created a series of digital prints using historical research, oral history, and the representational form of a comic book, to chart the sociocultural development of the Lower East Side through the story of the Market. The comics are made from photos of actual people who work in and frequent the market, and include text in multiple languages.
Join us on Saturday, December 12th at 3 PM for live music by the MetropoliTones before the Opening Reception with the Artist begins at 5 PM. The pieces will be on display at the Market through January 2010.
